The Power of f/1.4!

With the fall colors just beginning to show at the swamp, and cloudy skies today, I thought I would try and get the creative juices flowing and take some shots with the Nikkor 50mm f/1.4. This lens is certainly a cool lens, although I couldn’t see using it all the time. The auto focus is just darn slow and it is not extremely sharp. However, it is a 1.4! Low light photography would be a breeze with this lens paired up with the D7000. Now, this shot was very simple. I shot this wide open, and my low angle increased the shallow DOF, leaving only the swamp grass in focus with the fall foliage out. It may not be the best shot I have ever taken, but it is one that I enjoy. It was also nice to get the camera back in my hand!

Thanks Danny! It is actually one of my Dad’s lenses. I thought I would take it for a test spin.
