As the number climbs, it just keeps getting more and more fun! This time I flew in a Pitts S-2B, which is one model down from the S-2C that I flew in the last two times. The plane has a lot heavier feel because the ailerons don’t extend all the way out to the wing tip. On this ride the plane was basically mine to fly. I got to use rudder this time, which was definitely an experience! If you want to use the rudder to turn, you can’t just depress the foot pedal, you have to depress both to balance out the force since the rudder is so sensitive. Now doing this while inverted on the top of an Immelmann is quite the challenge to say the least! I couldn’t get it to work, nor could I get my hammerhead to work, but I’ll get it next time. Finally, we did a centrifuge, this time with about 7 or 8 spins. Last time we got 2.5. Once again, another awesome experience in the air!

OMG you are having an amazing summer… this must be like a fairy tale come true for you… you are one very fortunate young man. I am very excited for you and look forward to seeing more fantastic shots – like the panoramic and hearing your stories.. BUT… this is a pretty darn good picture your dad took. Better make sure you don’t compete against it at club. I’m pretty sure this shot is a winner.. It is in my books anyway.
Keep the pictures and the stories comin’
