The Shot that Drove Me Crazy

Before we left for Folly Beach, I knew my money shot would be of this dead tree on the beach at sunset. The only problem was I didn’t know where on the beach it was located, or what the correct tide was to photograph it. We arrived in Folly on Saturday, and went for a 17 mile bike ride on Sunday to locate the tree. As fate would have it, the tree was in the last spot we looked. Then came the work of getting the tides right. It took me 4 trips until I got the shot closest to what I was envisioning, which is the image in the previous blog post. I had to ride about 32 miles (not all in one time, but spread out over multiple trips) to get that shot! The image here was taken on my 3rd trip down to the tree, but not all of the elements worked together. I had a gorgeous sunset, but the tide was very high and didn’t allow me to get within a close proximity to the tree. More to come!
